EC/UN Partnership NEWS

The Final Reports of the Mapping studies conducted under the EC/UN Partnership in Latin America and the Caribbean and in the Commonwealth of Independent States are now available in English and will soon be available in Spanish and Russian respectively.

Regional Mapping Studies for LAC now available

This report provides an overview of the issues and trends that emerged from mapping studies on aid effectiveness, gender equality and women's empowerment in Honduras, Nicaragua and Suriname. While progress towards national ownership has been observed in these countries, along with increased government leadership of development planning, the mapping studies revealed that coordination and harmonisation of development programmes are still relatively weak and call for better coherence between national development plans, poverty reduction strategies, and national gender equality policies and commitments. The studies were carried out within the context of the EC/UN Partnership on Gender Equality for Development and Peace.

Regional Mapping Studies for CIS now available

This report provides an overview of the issues and trends that emerged from mapping studies on aid effectiveness, gender equality and women's empowerment in Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine. The mapping studies revealed that strengthening the strategic planning capacities of government institutions and the policy-budget links is a priority in the context of these countries, where the implementation of the Paris Declaration principles is being hampered by poor systems and procedures coupled with weak capacity among civil servants. The mapping studies paint a clear picture of the deterioration of gender equality standards in both countries. Specifically, the differential effects of national budgets on specific groups of men and women are ignored and gender aspects do not figure in budget revenue or expenditure components. The studies were carried out within the context of the EC/UN Partnership on Gender Equality for Development and Peace
